Dr. Kaitlin Young grew up in Baraboo, WI but moved to Fitchburg when she was 4 years-old. In pursuit of more snow, she moved to the UP for her undergraduate degree in Biology from Michigan Technological University. She returned home to Madison where she attended the UW-Madison Veterinary School where she completed her DVM in 2010.
Kaitlin lives with her husband Pete and their sons Wesley and Quincy on Lake Waubesa. Her animal family includes Kiki, a cute, playful and shy feline (whose distain for other dogs and cats keeps them a one-cat household) and a small cohort of chickens they raise for eggs. In the winter, you will find Kaitlin cross-country skiing, ice-skating, sledding while in the warmer months, she enjoys canoeing, kayaking and hiking. Year-round she enjoys cooking, reading, playing with her boys, and enjoying the wildlife around the house.
When asked about her favorite part of veterinary medicine, she responds, “Do I have to choose just one?” She loves helping her patients and their human family find a solution to a problem that makes everyone happier and healthier. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgeries, pain management, tick-borne disease, travel with pets (including health certificates) and client education and outreach.
